Almost every morning on my way to work I see a mid 90's Subaru wagon with a weird yet comedic issue.
When the car goes into second gear the reverse lights come on. It usually throws off the people following them but it is usually only on for a second or two. Never seen this before but it is good for a smile in the morning.

Could it be that the reverse light trigger is having issues? maybe something is jammed up causing it to happen.

Not to sure what it could be but it seems weird that it happens in only what I can tell is second.

The reverse light switch is triggered by the reverse fork (I think) which may come into contact with another fork when worn? I dunno, but I had very little contact with mine, and went from de-shimming it to replacing it to get my lamps to illuminate.

Faulty Neutral Safety Switch in the gearbox. Happened to me before.
